Perak: Defending champion Daren Liew took the Perak Open men's singles match all the way to its limit only to fall short after being beaten in the quarter-final by Soong Joo Ven on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old fourth seed went down 22-20, 13-21, 9-21 to Soong Joo Ven, who is ranked No. 112 in the world.Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin plays relentlessly and aggressively in the Perak Open quarter-finals.

Kuala Lumpur: The popularity of badminton could earn the sport a permanent 'home' in the Olympic Games, said International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach.

Perak: Whether it was for fun or whether Lee Chong Wei needed to create some room for the very much-needed relaxation ahead of world championships, the serious Perak Open badminton tournament that kicked off three days ago, turned in to a fun time when Lee stepped onto badminton court with Vivian Hoo to play in the first round of mixed doubles on Monday. Lee/Vivian's scary power, speed and athleticism proved too much for a courageous Mohd Lutfi Zaim Bin Abdul Khalid/Julia Wong Pei Xian pair, winning the match 21-10, 21-16 and advancing into second round where they will face Lim Tiat Long/Ng Sin Zou on Tuesday.Lee Chong Wei seems to enjoy playing mixed doubles with Vivian Hoo. Mumbai: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has finally managed to rope in the services of top doubles coach Tan Kim Her on Friday. The Malaysian was in the Capital of India to finalise his contract with the Sports Authority of India, and BAI president Akhilesh Das Gupta said that Tan Kim Her will join the Indian team by the end of September.Departure of Tan Kim Her (left) is a huge loss for Badminotn Association of Malaysia.

Vladivostok: Malaysia's mixed doubles pair, Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying won their second title of the year at the 2015 Russian Open Gold GP Badminton Championship on Sunday.
