Kuala Lumpur: President of Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria said the organization will undergo restructuring of its coaching staff, and the change is not limited to just the men’s singles department.

Norza said that he will evaluate all aspects of coaching during the Coaching and Training (C&T) committee meeting that will be held next Thursday.

“After I became the president of BAM, I was thinking to improve the coaching staff in the men’s singles department, because we are at an extremely critical stage that we are not able to find another world class men’s singles player other than Lee Chong Wei,” said Norza.

“However, after the disappointment in Sudirman Cup, I realized that we need to revamp the whole coaching staff we have right now,” added Norza.

Nevertheless, the technical director of BAM Morten Frost Hansen refused to provide further comment about the potential coaching staff shake up.

“Any changes to the new coaching structure will need to go through the coaching and training committee after our meeting next Thursday (June 8),” said Frost.

In addition to the re-organization of the coaching staff, the Coaching and Training (C&T) Committee is expected to finalize the Malaysian badminton team line-up for Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.
