SINGAPORE: Action heated up the court on Saturday at the Aviva Open Singapore, with shuttlers vying for a spot in the finals at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Among the hopefuls was Xie Xingfang of China, who beat compatriot Jiang Yanjiao, 17-21, 21-10, 21-19, to take a place in the finals of the women's singles. She will face Hong Kong's Zhou Mi on Sunday. Boonsak Ponsana

Thai shuttler, Boonsak Ponsana, clinched his spot in the finals by taking down South Korean Park Sung Hwang, 19-21, 21-18, 21-13.

Ponsana, who won the Aviva Open Singapore in 2007, will be up against China's Bao Chunlai on Sunday.

Viewers in Singapore can catch all the action of the finals "live" on MediaCorp's Channel 5 on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm.
