Sydney: Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying became the only Malaysian shuttlers remained at Australian Open Super 300 after Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Jemie Lai crashed out in the mixed doubles quarter-finals on Friday.

Chan/Goh eased past Indonesia’s Yantoni Edy Saputra/Marsheilla Gischa Islami 21-3, 21-10 in 25 minutes to set up a semi-final clash with No. 8 seeds Wang Zekang/Li Yinhui of China in the last-four on Saturday.

The China mixed doubles pair, on the other hand, defeated top seeded Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Lai Jemie 21-17, 21-13 in other quarter-finals.

“The Indonesian pair we played today were not strong, but we will need to be more prepared when playing Wang Zekang/Li Yinhui tomorrow. Our goal is to improve our overall ranking,” said Goh Liu Ying.

In men’s singles, India’s second seed Praneeth went down 21-23, 13-21 to Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong on Friday. Lee will play Zhou Zeqi of China next.

Zhao Junpeng and Lu Guangzu will set up an all-Chinese competition in another men’s singles semi-finals on Saturday.
