Jakarta: China proved too strong as it saw off Hong Kong 3-0 to advance to the Asian Games badminton men’s team semi-finals on Monday.

In a surprisingly one-sided duel between both team’s top singles players, World No. 2 Shi Yuqi took charge from the beginning of the match to beat World No. 9 Angus Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong 21-15, 21-11.

The reigning men’s doubles World Champions Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen also felt little resistance from their Hong Kong opponents Tang Chun-man/Yeung Ming-nok in the second match, as they triumphed 21-13, 21-13 to score the second points for China.

Rio Olympic champion Chen Long was also untroubled by Vincent Wong Wing-ki, en route to his 21-13, 21-14 win in little over 30 minutes.

China will play Taiwan in the semi-finals.

Taiwan, spearheaded by World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen, wasted no time to storm into semi-finals following a 3-0 victory over Nepal in the 18th Asian Games.

Meanwhile, Kento Momota continued his flawless performance to lead Japan to a 3-0 over Korea on Monday and will play Indonesia in the other men’s team semi-finals.
