Hanoi: The Indonesian team has concluded their recent weekend by winning three titles at the 2019 Vietnam International Challenge. The first title came from an all-Indonesian match between World No. 56 Firman Abdul Kholik and World No. 66 Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, in which Kholik eventually defeated Wardoyo 21-16, 21-7 in the men’s singles final.
Indonesia’s World No. 95 women’s double pair Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah clinched the second title after defeating Hsieh Pei Shan/Lin Xiao Min of Taiwan 21-19, 21-16. Men’s doubles pair Kenas Adi Haryanto/Rian Agung Saputro contributed the third title after digging deep to outlast Kang Min Hyuk/Kim Jae Hwan of Korea 21-19, 15-21, 21-18.
“This title means a lot to me, it has boosted my confidence. I want to catch up with my other teammates,” said Kholik.
“In the final against Chico, since we were familiar with each other’s playing style, I was just focusing on playing my game and avoid making any mistakes,” added Kholik.
Meanwhile, Vietnam International Challenge was the third title of the season for Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah as they have won the 2019 Iran Fajr International Challenge in February and the 2019 Dutch Junior International early March.
“We are certainly excited to be able to win our third title of the season. We were just trying to score one point at a time, and we were also playing with a lot of patience,” said Marwah.
Japan clinched two other titles through a mixed double pair Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito and World No. 156 Hirari Mizui in the women’s singles event.
