LONDON (AP) — London 2012 organizers have confirmed plans to stage the badminton and rhythmic events at Wembley Arena instead of a temporary Olympic venue.
The switch from east to northwest London will trim about 20 million pounds ($31.5 million) from the cost of the 2012 Games.
The organizing committee will present the proposal for approval by international gymnastics officials at this week's world championships before seeking agreement from badminton's world federation next week.
The plans will then be presented to the IOC Coordination Commission in November and to the IOC Executive Board in December.
