Jakarta: Following two Indonesians were tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, the first confirmed cases in Indonesia, the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) has taken every precaution to ensure the safety of Indonesian shuttlers amidst a global outbreak of the disease.
Starting Tuesday, PBSI will conduct a body temperature check for all shuttlers, coaches, staff and employees who enter and exit the PBSI national team training center. The rules also apply to guests and visitors who visit the PBSI training center.
“Right now we are taking precautions based on advice from the Ministry of Health. All players, coaching staff and guests at the national team training center will be examined. I think this is a normal procedure that we need to follow. We would also provide clear instruction to staff and employees about how to wash hands properly, how to maintain cleanliness and so on,” said Susi Susanti, Head of the PBSI Development and Achievement Division.
“We also check all our athletes and coaches who have just returned from competing from abroad, assessing their risk level for the disease. We have to make sure everybody is healthy and in good condition,” added Susanti.
In addition, for those shuttlers and team officials who will be going aboard for tournaments, PBSI also make sure they are equipped with face mask and hand sanitizer.
“We are making sure our shuttlers are maintaining personal hygiene. Washing their hands often. Their body must also be fit, and they must take vitamins,” added Susanti.
