MALAYSIA’S top women’s doubles pair Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty ended up as losers for the fourth time to China’s Ma Jin-Wang Xiaoli after losing in the semi-final of the Malaysian Open yesterday.

This time the Malaysians took the Chinese to the distance before bowing out 22-20, 12-21, 17-21 in 62 minutes.

Eei Hui-Pei Tty got the spectators all excited after their fantastic win in the opening game but the stadium fell into silence after a tame 12-21 defeat in the second.

The Chinese took the lead in the decider but the Malaysians did not give up but all their hard work ended in vain as they went down fighting 17-21.

With their defeat, Malaysia’s chase for a women’s doubles title in the home tournament remains elusive after four decades.

There were mixed feelings for Pei Tty yesterday.

“We were happy with our performances.

“We knew the odds were stacked against us but we did not make it easy for them,” said Pei Tty.

“But Eei Hui and I will have to work on being more consistent in a game. We were slow and followed their rhythm in the second game.

“It was good that we revived hope sfor an upset in the decider but they were too good. They did not make as many mistakes in the rubber game as they did in the first.”

Pei Tty said that they would continue to work hard and stick with their mission to get the better of the Chinese.

“This is our toughest match against Xiaoli and Ma Jin.

“We hope to narrow the gap and get the better of them next time,” she added.

The duo will now spend time polish ing up their skills as part of their preparations for the All-England in March.

Ma Jin-Xiaoli will take on their seniors Du Jing-Yu Yang in the women’s doubles final today.
