Guangzhou, China. Reigning Asian Games champion Taufik Hidayat on Friday meekly bowed out of the men’s badminton singles at the quarter-final stage to South Korea’s Park Sung-Hwan.

The Indonesian world number three was subdued in losing 21-15, 21-16.

An ecstatic Park, who beat Chinese star Lin Dan at the world championships in Paris in August, collapsed on the court and banged his fists on the ground after securing victory.
