COPENHAGEN, Oct. 20 -- China's Chen Long beat top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia to win the men's singles title at the Denmark Open 2013 badminton tournament in Odense, central Denmark on Sunday, while China took 4 of all 5 gold medals.

The first set was a close game. Lee seemed to be a little faster at the beginning and took the lead 12-8 before the Chinese Chen managed to catch up to 14-14. The two scored points by turns and Chen came out better, winning 24-22.

Chen led all the way in the second game, 12-5, 18-14, but made some easy mistakes, while Lee kept calm and played with lots of energy and took the score to 19-19. Then Chen took three points in a row and won it 21-19.

The women's singles title went to the fifth seeded Chinese Wang Yihan, who beat her sixth-seeded opponent Ji Hyun Sung of South Korea 16-21, 21-18, 22-20.

Wang led 15-9 in the first set but started making a lot of easy mistakes while Sung won eight rallies in a row and turned the score to 17-15 in her favor and took the game 21-16.

In the next two sets, the two played a lot of long rallies. Wang kept on fighting and succeeded.

"It was a really tough match but I show a lot of strength, even though I'm tired. I feel very comfortable playing her in the Danish arena since I have won here before, and it helped me that I could hear the crowd cheering for me," said Wang after winning her second title at Denmark Open.

The Chinese mixed duo Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei seeded first and proved their worth by winning the final over Indonesia's Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyna Natsir, 23-21, 22-20 in a 41-minute match.

China also dominated the women's doubles. Bao Yixin and Tang Jinhua defeated the second-seeded Danish pair Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl 21-16, 21-13 in the final.

Earlier, the men's doubles saw the eighth-seeded South Korean duo Yong Dae Lee/Yeon Seong Yoo overpowered top seeds Indonesian Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan 21-19, 21-16 in just 33 minutes.

"Since we led from the start, our confidence was high. We knew it would be a tough match, but it always helps when you've got a lot of confidence," Yoo said after the match.

The 62nd edition of Denmark Open, taking place at the Odense Sports Park from Oct. 15-20, is a 400,000 U.S. dollars Super Series Premier event, which has attracted 271 players from 28 countries and regions.
