KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian women’s and mixed doubles player Lim Yin Loo was sporting a new look in training.

When asked about her spectacles, Yin Loo explained that she usually wears contact lenses but they sometimes irritate her eyes and cause discomfort because of dryness. As a result, she is opting to wear spectacles until she undergoes lasik treatment for vision correction next Wednesday. Lim Yin Loo has no tournaments lined up until the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold from March 25-30. So, she has opted to go for lasik treatment next week.

“The recovery time after the treatment is usually short but it varies for different individuals and therefore only time will tell how long I will take,” she said.

A decision by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to not send most of the women players out for tournaments has certainly dimmed their chances of qualifying for this year’s Uber Cup Finals in New Delhi in May. Only Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo have been entered for the German Open from Feb 25-March 2 and the All-England from March 4-9.

As such, Yin Loo will be using this opportunity to go for the treatment. She hopes to return in time for the Malaysian Grand Prix Gold from March 25-30. “I hope that I will have sufficient time to recover before the tournament,” she said.

She is paired with Lee Meng Yean for the women’s doubles category and Ong Jian Guo for the mixed doubles category.
