In the all-Chinese women's singles semi-finals, Li Xuerui packed off Xin Liu in 32 minutes. She will face second seed Wang Shixian who bounced back from the loss of the first set to beat third seed Wang Yihan in 58 minutes of the thrilling battle of two Wangs. Shixian also defeated Yihan in last month's All England.
After losing the first set, Shixian found her rhythm battled brilliantly to snatch the second set. In the deciding third set, the players were moving neck and neck till 20-all, with Yihan's errors on the big points of the close decider allowed Shixian converted her second match-point.
