With this win, Sindhu leads the meetings with Busanan 3-0. Sindhu will next face a tough last four clash against Chinese World No.2 Shixian Wang. Though Sindhu has a 3-1 lead against the reigning All-England champion, Wang beat Sindhu last month to claim the India Open title.

The Commonwealth Games women’s doubles gold medallist Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa, defeated Malaysian pair of Anscelly Amelia Alicia and Soong Fie Cho 21-12 21-12 in a 40-minute match.

“We played very well today, it is a great win and a big boost for us. We knew we just have to practice, and play more games to get better,” said Ponnappa.

Asked about their next round opponents Luo Ying and Luo Yu from China, Ashwini said: “We lost to them in Singapore Open. They are a good pair, and we will try our best.”
