The reward was a very pleasant surprise for the shuttlers. The Thomas Cup team members was given short notice of the reward on Friday, and six of them – Chan Peng Soon, Chong Wei Feng, Goh Soon Huat, Daren Liew (captain), Lim Khim Wah, and Hoon Thien How were present to collect their reward. Other members such as Lee Chong Wei, Goh V Shem, Tan Boon Heong and Tan Wee Kiong couldn't make it to the ceremony because they are still playing in the Indonesian Open.

"We couldn't have achieved this without all the amazing support from the coaches and sacrifices from the players," said BAM president Tengku Mahaleel.

"The second place finish in Thomas Cup finals was great, but there is still much room for growth. I do believe, together, we can do better," he added.
