The same dynamic has made the Lee Chong Wei-Lin Dan rivalry in modern badminton a compelling one for viewers around the world. These two players have totally different personalities. Lee Chong Wei has a natural humble personality and attitude, while Lin Dan is known for his hot temper for allegedly trying to punch his opponent’s coach in the face and throwing his shoes into the crowds.
So far in 2014, Lee Chong Wei has won 4 Superseries titles – Malaysia Open, All England, India Open, and Japan Open; while Lin Dan has captured China Masters GPG,China Masters GPG and Austalian Open. With Lin Dan actively collecting points to qualify himself for the Rio 2016 Olympics, world number one Lee Chong Wei is looking forward to square off with Lin.
“I am happy to see Lin Dan is back in the spotlight. I am not worried by the prospect of facing Lin Dan in any tournaments,” said Chong Wei calmly.
“Right now, I am focusing on winning my third Commonwealth Games gold medal at Glasgow, and then, I will start preparing for the Incheon Asian Games,” added Chong Wei.
If everything goes according to plan, Incheon Asian Games would be the first showdown for these two players in almost a year , after Lin Dan defeated Lee Chong Wei in the World Championships, August 2013.
