Kuala Lumpur: With contracts for nearly all senior coaches at Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) expiring at the end of December, and decision on contract extensions for those coaches still in limbo, Daren Liew expressed his concerns over the uncertain situation.

“I must admit there’s growing anxiety among the players, as we do not know who will coach and guide us at the beginning of next year,” said Daren.Rashid Sidek,Tey Seu Bock, Pang Cheh Chang, Rosman Razak (from left to right)

“I hope this matter could be finalized as soon as possible, as that will benefit both the coaches and the players.”

“I am sure the coaches would want to know where they stand in that contract renewal process, and the shuttlers could feel “rest assured” if they know who would continue to coach the team.”

BAM’s chief coach Rashid Sidek, men’s singles coach Tey Seu Bock, men’s doubles coach Pang Cheh Chang and women’s doubles coach Rosman Razak are among those whose contract will expire at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, Daren hoped Rashid Sidek and Tey Seu Bock could continue their services at BAM.

“I’ve been training under them for almost 10 years, and I am very comfortable with them. Different coaches will have different coaching styles, if BAM decided to hire new coaches, it’ll take us some time to get use to the new coaches’ coaching philosophy.”
