“I hurt my ankle during the Axiata Cup. National Sports Institute (NSI) was not there , nor were any masseur available during the tournament, and we were exhausted,” said Wei Feng.

“The ultrasound I got today didn’t indicate any problems, but I will seek a second opinion from another doctor,” added Wei Feng.

The 27-year-old who had also pulled out from Perak Open in October, will not eligible to defend his national champion title at the National Grand Prix Finals that will be held in Terengganu from Dec 27-30.

“I don’t think I am fit enough to compete currently, I rather skip few tournaments including the National Grand Prix Finals, so that I can prepare for next year. My main goal next year is to earn enough qualification points for the 2016 Rio Olympics.”

Another senior Malaysian shuttler Daren Liew also pulled out from the Sabah Open.
