Kuala Lumpur: After witnessing a signing ceremony on Monday, Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin indicated that Lee Chong Wei’s hearing at Badminton World Federation (BWF) will most likely be postponed to early next year.
“It’s the third week of December already, with Christmas approaching, most Western sports officials will be on leave starting next week,” said Khairy.
“The chance of that hearing being held before end of 2014 is not high,” added Khairy.
Chong Wei’s initial hearing was scheduled for December 8 in Amsterdam, but his lawyer and Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have requested more time from BWF in order to obtain more evidence and to present the case in more detail.
“I am pleased with all the findings and preparations by Chong Wei’s lawyer Mike Morgan and BAM.”
“We are prepared to provide the best defense possible for Chong Wei.”
