Choong Hann, desperate to improve his world ranking to secure a place in the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur in August, was hoping to avoid Lin Dan (picture) at least until the semi-final stage but they are now likely to meet in the last eight.
Choong Hann should overcome Raul Must of Estonia in the first round, Hong Kongs Ng Wei in the second round and Singapores Kendrick Lee in the third round.
Veteran Roslin Hashim will also have it tough as he is expected to take on Lin Dan in the third round.
Lin Dan could also meet two other Malaysian qualifiers Liew Daren in the first round and Arif Latif in the second round if they make the main draw.
However, Bin Shen-Soon Hock will be hoping not to just reach the final but secure their first international title with only one top 10 pair South Koreas World No 4 Jung Jae Sung-Lee Yong Dae competing in the tournament.
Bin She-Soon Hock have an easy opening match against Australias Glann Warfe-Ross Smith and will play second seeds Albertus Susanto-Johan Hadi Kusuma of Hong Kong in the second round.
They are expected to meet Chinas Shen Ye-Xu Chen in the last eight and Lee Jae Jin-Hwang Ji Man of South Korea in the last four.
Chan Chong Ming-Hoon Thien How also have a chance to reach at least the semi-finals where they are expected take on top seeds Jae Sung-Yong Dae. Chong Ming-Thien How will play in the qualifying rounds.
