PERFORMANCE based contracts is what the BA of Malaysia (BAM) will be introducing to the national coaches next week.

Giving Li Maos decision as an example, BAM president Datuk Nadzmi Dalleh said that no professional is indispensable and the coaches will get an attractive salary package if they are good enough to earn it.

One of the main reasons which prompted Li Maos departure was the better salary offered by the South Korea BA (KBA) and the China coach had signed the deal first and then informed BAM of his decision not to accept a new deal.

"The contracts will be out soon the latest after the Chinese New Year holidays. It wil be a tri-parte contract involving the coaches, BAM and the National Sports Council," said Nadzmi.

"Li Maos departure has made it clear that no professional is indispensable. At the same time, if a coach wants an attractive deal he must make sure that he is good.

"We are making an effort to provide the best possible salary which will be based on the performance of the coaches."

Nadzmi also said that womens doubles coach Cheah Soon Kit should have raised his dissatisfaction over his salary with the management rather than going public but assured that the issue will not be a problem anymore.

Nadzmi has already had a discussion with NSC and efforts are being made to offer the coaches higher salaries.

NSCs salary ceiling for local coaches is RM10,000 and BAM will bear the additional cost for coaches whose salaries are higher.
