Singapore: Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair of Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying advanced to the SEA Games quarter-finals in mixed doubles category on Saturday after they defeated Singapore’s Vanessa Neo/ Danny Bawa Chrisnanta 21-18, 21-16 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Chan Peng Soon broke his racket string when the Malaysia pair was leading 9-5 in the first set. Then, Goh Liu Ying made a surprising move by exchanging her racket with Chan, so that Chan could continue smashing from the back court. Ironically, Goh Liu Ying eventually sealed the point of the rally using the racket that has the broken string. (Watch the racket exchange around 13.18 at video below)
