Baku: Chloe Magee managed to recompose herself on Tuesday after she was beaten by Estonias Kati Tolmoff 21-18 21-17 in her opening match in Group F yesterday. She eased through her second group game at the European Games in Baku on Tuesday, defeating Kristine Sefere in the badminton singles Group F encounter. The Irish Olympian was rarely troubled by her Latvian opponent and secured the 2-0 victory in just over 22 minutes with a scoreline of 21-9, 21-7.
In the women’s doubles, Irish pair Sara Boyle and Rachael Darragh were beaten 21-19, 21-18 by French duo Lorraine Baumann and Audrey Fontaine.
The sister and brother pair of Chloe Magee and Sam Magee, who got off to a winning start against Czech Republic in their mixed doubles on Monday, continued that form yesterday with another convincing 21-8, 21-10 win over the pairing of Povilas Bartusis and Vytaute Fomkinaite from Lithuania.
Scott Evans continued his unbeaten start in the men’s badminton singles, although not as easily as his first match. He lost the first set to Yuhan Tan from Belgium, 14-21, but then promptly avenged that in the second, 21-13, before winning the third set 21-13.
