Jakarta: The so-called 4 Heavenly Kings of Badminton – Lee Chong Wei, Lin Dan, Taufik Hidayat, Peter Gade, will be meeting badminton fans in an event called Yonex Legends’ Vision Indonesia, at the Asia-Africa Badminton Hall in Senayan, Jakarta, on Aug. 17.
The Legends’ Vision event was announced in March during the All England tournament in Birmingham. The event aims to raise awareness of badminton around the globe, bringing together four badminton legends: Lin Dan of China, Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, Peter Gade of Denmark and Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia.
About 1,000 participants will be invited to this event in Senayan. The participants consist of young badminton players from various clubs around Indonesia, coaches, trainers, badminton organizations, parents, former badminton players as well as the media.
At this event, the four badminton legends will entertain fans with special exhibition matches and will conduct coaching clinics to encourage the younger generation to become more involved in badminton.
“Yonex is very excited to participate and to sponsor the event. Badminton lovers in Indonesia are more than welcome to attend the event, “said Berry Tamba, a Yonex representative.
“Getting all four badminton legends together is very hard, I hope the event could inspire Indonesia’s young children to follow our paths so they can write their own badminton history in the future,” said the gold medalist in the 2004 Athens Olympics, Taufik Hidayat.
“As the host, I would like to make this event memorable for the legends and young players, as well as the fans. We organized the event to coincide with Indonesia’s 70th anniversary of independence. I hope the event will bring positive impacts for the development of Indonesian badminton,” added the 2004 Olympic Games gold medalist.
In addition to the exhibition matches, the 4 Heavenly Kings of Badminton will also donate racquets to schools that have been selected.
The Yonex Legends’ Vision was first held in Beijing in May. After Indonesia, a similar event will be held in Denmark and Malaysia.
