Kuala Lumpur: The 2015 Japan Open men’s singles draw was announced on August 18, and it has thrown up some curveballs for defending champion Lee Chong Wei.
Lee has a tough draw to contend with as he aims to capture his unprecedented 6th Japan Open title in Tokyo this year. The Malaysian opens his campaign against Scottish Alistair Casey in the first qualifying round. He will face either India’s B. Sai Praneeth or South Korean Kwang Hee Heo in the second qualifying round to make the main draw.
Lee Chong Wei is then set to face Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana in the first round of the main draw. He will likely clash with Lin Dan in the second round, and should he reach the quarter-finals, he could face reigning world champion Chen Long in what promises to be a blockbuster quarter-finals match.
The 2015 Japan Open will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 to Sunday, September 13, 2015.
