Odense: Viktor Axelsen of Denmark is in the same quarter of the Denmark Open draw as Chinese badminton legend Lin Dan. The Dane could potentially face the two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan in the quarter-finals at the Denmark Open that will be held from Oct 13 to Oct 18.
When both of them were engaged in a grueling battle at the Japan Open finals two weeks ago, Axelsen squandered 14-11 lead in the first set, and suffered a devastating collapse in the decider, allowing Lin Dan to battle back from 3-11 deficit to eventually claim the title.
Viktor Axelsen has been seeded sixth in the Denmark Open while Lin Dan is the No. 3 seed in the tournament.
The 21-year-old Dane will play Rajiv Ouseph of England in the first round, and faces either Son Wan Ho of Korea or Angus Ng Ka Long in the second round.
In 2010, Axelsen became the first ever European player to win the World Junior Champion, beating Korea’s Kang Ji-wook 21–19, 21–10 in the final.
