Malaysia’s women’s team loses to Thailand 3-0 in BATC quaterfinals

Hyderabad: The national women’s badminton squad will be returning home early after losing 0-3 to Thailand in the quarterfinals of the Badminton Asian Team Championships (BATC) at the G.M.C. Thailand’s 2013 World Champion, Ratchanok Intanon clinched the first point by outclassing Ho Yen Mei in 21-6 and 21-9.

Puttita Supajirakul-Sapsiree Taerattanachai, who were shown the exit in the Thailand Masters last week by Amelia Alicia Anscelly-Vivian Hoo at the same stage, took revenge on Woon Khe Wei-Vivian with a 21-18 and 21-17 win for their second point.

Busanan Ongbumrungpan, the 2015 Singapore SEA Games gold medallist, confirmed the semifinal berth for the Thais after whitewashing Lim Yin Fun 21-7 and 21-12.

Thailand will meet Japan in the semifinals tomorrow. Japan had eliminated n Chinese Taipei their quarterfinal tie.
