Rio: Lin Dan and the Chinese badminton team have finally arrived at the Olympic village in Rio after spending last 10 days in Sao Paulo.
However, Lin Dan is braced for a tough defence of his gold medal as he bids to create an unprecedented record in the history of badminton, which is to capture his third Olympic gold in Rio.
Lin could face Jan Jorgensen of Denmark in the quarter-finals, and his nemesis Lee Chong Wei in the semifinals if the seeds hold.
If he makes it all the way to final, he will likely be playing his compatriot, World No. 2 Chen Long.
“Other teams have already started training in the Olympic stadium, we have three more days left trying to get use to the atmosphere in the stadium,” said Lin Dan.
“Personally, I would like to hit more shuttlecocks, and try to get use to everything as soon as possible,” added Lin Dan.
Rio Olympic badminton tournament will be held from August 11 to August 20th (Brazil time). Super-Dan is set to kick off his first match on Thursday, August 11 against 27-year-old Austrian, David Obernosterer. He will also play Nguyen Tien Minh from Vietnam and Vladimir Malkov from Russia in the group stage.
