Kuala Lumpur: The Badminton Association of Malaysia’s (BAM) will decide whether or not to grant Malaysia’s men’s single coach – Hendrawan the new contract at the coaching and training (C&T) meeting that will be held on Sept 15.
BAM’s deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria told reporters that he is in the process of gathering feedbacks from BAM players regarding to Hendrawan’s performance.
“Not only Hendrawan, there are many contracts of our coaches will expire in December. We will evaluate their performance thoroughly based on comments from our players.”
“We will talk to Hendrawan before making any decision.”
“I have already talked to BAM’s Technical director Morten Frost Hansen about our short term and long term goal, making sure we continue our momentum in Rio.”
Speaking about Malaysia Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s proposal that professional players such as Zulfadli Zulkiffli should join BAM to bring their games to the next level, Mohamad Norza said he has no problem accepting those players into BAM if they agreed with the conditions.
“Frankly, BAM is the best place to train Zulfadli for a spot in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, because we have world class coaching and support system, not to mention excellent sport science support from the National Sport Institute.”
