Beijing: The China Badminton Super League (CBSL) ended its second round of the contest on Thursday. Lin Dan’s Guangzhou Heyuan team were heart-broken again on Thursday in a 2-3 loss to the Hunan team after surrendering 2-3 in the opening tie on Tuesday.
Shin Baek Cheol (Korea)/Wu YingShi (China) started the proceedings for the Guangzhou Heyuan team on Thursday, but they were struggling against Zhang Wen/Bao Yixin of Hunan to crash out 22-24, 15-21.
Two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan then brushed aside Tan Zhendong of Hu Nan with 21-17, 21-11 to level the overall score at 1-1.
Men’s doubles pair of Cai Biao and Zhang Wen dished out a clinical performance to get across Zhang Zhijun / Zhou Haodong of Guangzhou He Yuan with 21-13, 21-19.
World No. 1 women’s singles player Tai Tzu Ying then hammered Zheng Yu of Guangzhou 21-18, 21-9 to seal the victory for Hunan at 3-1.
In the women’s doubles match, Zhong Qian Xin/Ou Dongni of Guangzhou finally able to dismantle Hunan’s Xia Huan/Jia Yifan with 21-17, 21-15 to earn a second point for Guangzhou.
In other second-round tie, the Qingdao Renzhou team that spearheaded by Chen Long, defeated Guangdong New Century team with 3-2. Malaysia’s Rio Olympic mixed doubles silver medalist Goh Liu Ying was paired with the 2012 Olympic mixed doubles champion Zhang Nan were able to get a strong start for Qingdao by defeating Wang Yi-Lu / Chen Ching-chen of Guangdong 21-15, 21-13.
Chen Long also enjoyed the last laugh as he grabbed the second point for Qingdao by outlasting Qiao Bin 21-18, 21-14.
Although Qingdao lost their next two matches, but Luo Ying/Luo Yu were able to fight back after dropping a set to seal the second consecutive victory for Qingdao by battling past Yu Xiaohan/Chen Qingchen 2-1 in the women’s doubles match.
