Purple League: Goh Jin Wei lifts BU Dragons BC past Ampang Jaya BC

Cyberjaya: Goh Jin Wei and the Bandar Utama (BU) Dragons have put together an impressive fourth winning streak by playing just enough to pull out victories in the Purple League clash that took place at the Gem In Mall in Cyberjaya on Tuesday.Goh Jin Wei is a young badminton star on the rise. The tie between BU Dragons and Ampang Jaya opened with the men’s singles match between Mek Narongrit and Suppanyu Avihingsanon, where both players ended in a 2-2 tie.

Goh Jin Wei then managed to stretch the women’s singles match to 11-10, 11-3, 11-6 against Ho Yen Mei, made it 5-2 for BU Dragons.
    
The onus then fell on Mak Hee Chun/Markis Kido to give the Dragons a big lead when the red-hot Mak/Kido pair endured an easy than expected battle from Kim Astrup/Muhammad Syawal before emerging victorious with 11-6, 11-7, 11-3.

Although Tan Kian Meng/Yap Zhen, Wei Nan lost the mixed doubles and men’s singles matches with 2-3, 1-3 respectively, but the BU Dragons team did just enough to clinch the nail-bitter tie with 11-8 in overall score.

In another Purple League tie that was held on Tuesday, Daren Liew’s Petaling BC team slumped to their third loss in of the season after suffering a 5-13 defeat to Kepong BC.
