Chinese top seed Lin Dan remains undefeated in men's singles at the ongoing China Open badminton tournament in Guangzhou.

Lin Dan, nicknamed "Super Dan", booked his spot in the quarterfinals, when he eliminated fellow Chinese teammate Lu Qicheng 21-16, 21-14.
Lin's arch rival Hidayat Taufik of Indonesia battled from one set down to beat Thailand's Boonsak Polsana 16-21, 21-16, 21-12.
Defending champion and third-seeded Chen Hong of China also moved into the last eight. He triumphed over Japan's Shoji Sato 21-19, 21-17.
Another Chinese player Bao Chunlai claimed an easy victory over Agus Hariyanto of Chinese Hong Kong.
Fourth seed Bao took the first set 21-9 and won a quarterfinal berth when Hariyanto quit to play the rest of the match.
In women's singles play, Chinese ace Zhang Ning claimed a 2-0 (21-17, 21-10) victory over Dutchwoman Judith Meulendiks in a rematch of Macau Open quarterfinal, which was won by Judith.
However, world number two Xie Xingfang suffered an early exit when she lost to her compatriot 21-14, 19-21,15-21 in a three-set clash.

In other matches played on Thursday, Chinese pair Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewei smashed their Japanese counterparts 21-5, 21-9 for their quarterfinal berth in the women's doubles.
Two-times Olympic champions Zhang Jun and Gao Ling and teammates Xu Chen and Zhao Tingting both won to advance into the next stage in the mixed doubles. (source: People's Daily)
