KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- Be more focused on your game, and learn from your mistakes. This is national doubles coach Rexy Mainaky's advice to doubles pair Mohd Zakry Latif/Mohd Fairuzizuan Tazari as the duo push for an Olympics berth.

"They should stay focused in their game, especially during the semi-final and final stages where they tend to lose in the big matches, on most occasions," he told Bernama here Tuesday.

Zakry/Fairuz's best result was in the Indonesia Djarum Open Super Series last year, where they emerged runners-up to Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun of China.

Their chances of qualifying as Malaysia's second pair for the Beijing Olympics in August, has significantly improved due to veteran doubles player Lee Wan Wah's recent knee injury.

Contacted yesterday, Zakry said he and his partner were in good shape to enter their first major tournament in the six-day 2008 Malaysia Open which will kick off on Jan 15 at Putra Stadium, Bukit Jalil here.

"The draw may appear tough for us but we are confident in reaching at least, the semi-finals." he said.

The world No 16 pair is not expected to face problems in the first round against Luluk Hardiyanto/Alvent Yulianto of Indonesia.

However, the Malaysian duo could face a tough challenge in the second round against the tournament fourth seed of the Indonesia and American combination Chandra Wijaya/Tony Gunawan.

Zakry viewed the 2000 Sydney Olympics champions Chandra/Tony as their toughest opponent.

"They are an experienced pair, with a very good defence," said Zakry, adding that the last time they beat the Indonesian duo was in the 2007 Indonesia Open.
