New Delhi: Saina Nehwal remained the lone Indian in the Thailand Open badminton championship after the National champion thumped Nguyen Nhung Le Ngoc of Vietnam 21-9, 21-6 to storm into the quarterfinals, even as compatriot Anup Sridhar crashed out, in Bangkok on Thursday.
Sridhar, who was up against second seed Boonsak Ponsana, went down 11-21, 26-28. P. Kashyap was crushed by local favourite Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk 21-14, 21-19. Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian were beaten by the Singapore pair of Shinta Mulia Sari and Lei Yao 21-17, 15-21, 21-10 in the first round.
