New Delhi, September 25: Saina Nehwal shrugged off the disappointment of last week’s Japan Open debacle and spanked Japanese Ai Goto in straight sets to cruise into the quarter-finals of the China Master Super Series at Changzhou in China on Thursday.
The 18-year-old national champion thrashed Goto 21-12 21-10 in a lop-sided contest that lasted just 21 minutes.
Seven seed Saina, who got a bye in the first round, will now cross swords with third seed Lin Zhu of China in the quarterfinal match tomorrow. Zhu got a walk over from Eriko Hirose of Japan in another match on Thursday.
Saina became the first Indian to win to Grand Prix singles title after she won the Chinese Taipei badminton tournament earlier this month.
