THE Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will in future be more selective when sending players to international championships to ensure the players are at their best to maintain their world ranking.

Its president Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Salleh said there was no use in sending out-of-form players to championships as their poor performances would affect their ranking to qualify for bigger tournaments like the Super Series.

"We have our annual targets and can determine which championship to compete or not," he told reporters at his Aidilfitri open house on Shah Alam on Sunday. "The players must be fully prepared for any championship. There is no point in sending players who will only lose due to lack of fitness and preparation."

Nadzmi said BAM will also be sending its promising second stringers to several championships of the Super Series.
