INDONESIA'S former Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat, after initially withdrawing from the Super Series Masters Finals apparently due to an injury, will, after all be playing in the US$500,000 (RM1.8 million) event which starts in Kota Kinabalu tomorrow.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) yesterday confirmed Taufik's participation and clarified that the BA of Indonesia (PBSI) had miscommunicated with the world body.

The PBSI had initially withdrawn Taufik from the event citing a wrist injury, but after a second opinion, has given the green light for the player to make the trip to Kota Kinabalu.

The BWF and PBSI were saved further embarrassment when Hong Kong's Ng Wei, Taufik's replacement, graciously withdrew to allow the Indonesian to compete.
Taufik will now be the biggest threat to Malaysian World No 1 Lee Chong Wei in the year-ending event.
