Helen Davies could make her home debut at next month’s European Team Championships after being named in the England squad.
Davies, from Cheshire, will be hoping to feature for the second seeds in the group stages in Liverpool against Scotland, Wales and Czech Republic.
The 22-year-old made her first senior appearance with a singles victory in the women’s 3-2 defeat by Poland in Warsaw last month.
Davies will join a strong England line-up which includes a new pairing in the mixed doubles of Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork, who has replaced Gail Emms.
England are seeded to top their group and if they reach the knock-out stages will set up a likely quarter-final meeting against Ukraine. Poland or Holland would be the likely opponents if they reach the last four.
Wright said: “We’ve gone for youth and experience. This is the start of a new cycle and we are trying to phase in some of the younger players. With home advantage in Liverpool, this is the perfect opportunity to do that.
“We are also planning to take some of the other emerging players to Liverpool to wear the England track suit and sample the atmosphere. We want to start filtering in the young players as and when the opportunity presents itself.”
