The accident occurred when they were travelling back to Austria from Czech Republic after done playing at Czech Open. Meinke was driving at time of the crash, while Tan was in the passenger seat.

Meinke had been admitted to intensive care in the University Hospital in Brno since the accident. She had stayed in coma for one week before she was pronounced dead by the medical staff at the hospital last Saturday night.

Meinke and Tan had spent last summer in Malaysia together. Then Tan Chee Tean decided to go to Austria with Antonia Meinke to study and to learn German.
