Kuala Lumpur: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will hold an emergency council meeting on Sunday to discuss the alleged doping incident that involved a Malaysian player and the match-fixing scandal that was linked to a Malaysian business man.
One of the council members would like BAM to shed some light on those two incidents.
“We would like BAM president Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Arif to chair the emergency council meeting to discuss and address the doping and match-fixing issues.”
“We just want the right answer from the right people, it’s not fair that innocent athlete who did not dope was unfairly treated.”
“If one of our players really involved in the failed drug test, we would like to know who is responsible for this problem. Was it the player, the coaches, team doctors, or other factors.”
Meanwhile, Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced last week that Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and Kim Astrup Sorensen of Denmark were asked to throw their matches during Japan Open in June by a bookie believed to be a Malaysian, and BWF has filed a police report regarding the match fixing incident.
“We really would like Tengku Mahaleel to provide accurate information to all these allegations,” added the council member.
