The World Number One and top seed, Chong Wei played highest standard badminton against Jin, who was the sixth seed in the Men’s Singles draw of the event. The Malaysian was in no mood to slow down the pace of the rallies and finished up the match in straight games without any considerable fight.

Chong Wei took the opening game of the match without any trouble as it was completely one-sided. However, in the second game, the former World Champion, Jin played better game and remained close until the concluding phase of the second set but failed to win it as Chong Wei grabbed the ending points to finish off the match in 47 minutes.

In the starting points of the opening set, Chong Wei established an early lead by playing to his full potential. He played with maximum speed and employed his deceptive strokes to put pressure on the Chinese and remained successful in setting up a wonderful lead until the interval.

 

After the break, the top seed continued his roller-coaster run without any interruption as his rival was clearly lacking the aggressive touch in his game. Chong Wei took the first game with a seven-point gap of 21-14 by consuming 22 minutes in the court.

In the second game, the Chinese lifted up his level and managed to match the speed of his higher ranked opponent. Jin played attacking badminton in this set and remained close until the opening half of the set.

After the break, both players remained close by playing composed game and reached in the concluding phase of the match. At this stage, Chong Wei injected maximum power in his strokes and worked well at the net which helped him to score two consecutive points and win the game with a tight score of 21-19 in 25 minutes. The top seed won the battle in 47 minutes with a 21-14 and 21-19 score on the board.

In the semi-final, Chong Wei will be up against Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade or Viktor Axelsen.
