PETALING JAYA: China clinched four of the five individual titles at stake in the Asian Junior Championships in Taiwan.

Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi was the only shuttler to stop the Chinese from making a clean sweep yesterday. She defeated Chen Yufei 21-10, 21-15 to bag the girls’ singles title.

China started the final day of the championships on a positive note when Huang Kaixian-Chen Qingchen beat Kim Jung-ho-Kong Hee-yong of South Korea 21-14, 21-13 in the mixed doubles final.

Shi Yuqi then put up a good performance to beat Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan 19-21, 21-16, 21-16 in a thrilling boys’ singles final.

In the girls’ doubles, it was an all-Chinese affair which saw Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan beat Li Yinhui-Du Yue 21-11, 21-18.

In the last match of the day, Huang Kaixian-Zheng Siwei outclassed South Koreans Kim Jae-hwan-Kim Jung-ho 21-16, 21-14 in the boys’ doubles final. It was a fruitful outing for China as they also clinched the mixed team gold.
