
Yogjakarta: The Malaysian team has received a one day rest after its 3-0 victory against Poland in the World Junior mixed team play-off in Group C1 on Tuesday. Malaysian shuttlers were set to play India in the quarter-finals as the Indian shuttlers finished their group phase undefeated.
India who swept USA, Hungary and Australia 5-0 on Monday and Tuesday, left little doubt in dominant performance when they romped to a 3-2 win over Sweden at the 2017 World Junior Championships on Wednesday.
Last year’s World Junior mixed team champion – China was able to overcome Chinese Taipei 4-1 to top Group G, and will clash with Indonesia on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the host country Indonesia outlasted Spain and became the champion of Group H by defeating Spain 3-0.
Indonesian team manager Susi Susanti told reporters that her team will give everything they have in the quarter-final tie against China.
“Our opponents on Thursday are strong, we need to make better preparations,” said Susanti.
“I’ve reminded my team to stay focus and never give up, I wanted them to give their best,” added Susanti.
The Korean team will take on France while Japan will meet Thailand in other quarter-final ties on Thursday.
