SCOTLAND’S Susan Egelstaff cheered the home crowd as she cruised through to her first final at the Bank of Scotland International Championships at Glasgow’s Kelvin Hall.
Egelstaff on course to take singles crown
The No.2 seed needed three games to beat Russia’s Tatiana Bibik 21-15 12-21 21-13 in the quarter-finals – and then hit top form in the semis.
Up against Switzerland’s Jeanine Cicognini, she waltzed through 21-17 21-12 in less than half an hour.
Now the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist is hoping to become the first Scottish winner of the women’s singles since Rita Yuan Gao in 2002.
