
Lucknow, India — Malaysia enjoyed one of its strongest collective performances of the season as five men’s doubles pairs and two women’s doubles pairs punched their tickets to the last 16 at the SYED MODI India International 2025 (Super 300).
A total of seven Malaysian pairs were featured in the opening round of men’s doubles, and five successfully progressed through a combination of dominant wins and tight all-Malaysian battles.
Men’s Doubles: Five Malaysian Pairs Advance
Lau Yi Sheng / Lim Tze Jian
The pair delivered a confident performance, taking down India’s Suraj Goala/Dhruv Rawat 21–15, 21–14 to secure a smooth entry into the last 16.
Kang Khai Xing / Aaron Tai
Malaysia’s former World Junior champions Kang/Aaron Tai outclassed the Indian pair
Navin Prasanth Eswaramoorthy/Dhileepan Vel Murugan 21–11, 21–12.
They will next face Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjær / Rasmus Kjær.

Boon Xin Yuan/Lee Yi Bo, taking it 21–19, 16–21, 21–14.
Meanwhile, Goh Boon Zhe/Wong Vin Sean lost 15–21, 16–21 to Japan’s Masayuki Onodera/Daigo Tanioka.
Women’s Doubles: Two Malaysian Pairs Progress
Ong Xin Yee / Carmen Ting (7th Seeds)
The top Malaysian women’s pair eased into the next round with a confident 21–12, 21–15 win over India’s Deepshikha Singh/Sonali Singh.
Chong Jie Yu / Vanessa Ng
The pair displayed great composure to beat Rutaparna Panda/Swetaparna Panda 21–18, 21–13.
Cheng Su Hui / Tan Zhing Yi
Despite a promising start, Cheng/Tan were unable to overcome defending champions
Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand Pullela, losing 21–19, 20–22, 9–21.
