Paris, France, October 24: Malaysia will celebrate an all-Malaysian men’s doubles final at the 2026 French Open after Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin joined Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun in winning their respective semifinals against Indonesian opponents on Saturday.

Sixth seeds Goh and Izzuddin defeated Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin 22-20, 21-9, while Man and Tee overcame Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin 21-16, 21-15 at the BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament.
The results guarantee Malaysia both the men’s doubles title and runner-up position when the two pairs meet in Sunday’s final at Arena Grand Paris.
In men’s singles, Indonesia’s Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah ended Denmark Open champion Alex Lanier’s hopes of reaching a second consecutive final, winning a three-game semifinal. France’s Christo Popov also progressed, defeating China’s Hu Zhe An in straight games.
Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Beat Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Marthin
Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin continued their impressive French Open campaign with a 22-20, 21-9 semifinal victory over Indonesia’s Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin.
The opening game proved the more demanding of the two, with the Malaysians edging their opponents 22-20 after the score went beyond 20-all.
Goh and Izzuddin then established a much wider margin in the second game, winning 21-9 to complete their straight-game victory.
The result sends the Malaysian sixth seeds into the French Open final, extending a strong week in Paris that included their quarterfinal victory over South Korea’s world No. 1 pair Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae.
On Friday, Goh and Izzuddin defeated the Korean top seeds 21-15, 21-18, avenging their defeat in the quarterfinals of the 2026 BWF World Championships.
Having eliminated the world’s top-ranked combination and then overcome Indonesian opposition, the Malaysians now have an opportunity to finish the tournament with the championship.

All-Malaysian Men’s Doubles Final Guarantees French Open Title
Sunday’s championship match between Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin and Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun will guarantee a Malaysian victory in the men’s doubles event.
The final is scheduled for October 25 on Court 1, with an estimated start time of 2:20 p.m. local time, subject to the preceding matches.
For Goh and Izzuddin, the final presents an opportunity to convert their victory over world No. 1 Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae into a tournament title.
For Man and Tee, it offers the chance to complete a successful week in which they defeated seeded Japanese opposition and then secured a convincing semifinal victory.
Regardless of the outcome, Malaysia will occupy both positions on the men’s doubles podium reserved for the finalists.
The achievement is especially encouraging for Malaysian badminton after Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik finished runners-up at the Denmark Open the previous weekend.
Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah Stuns Alex Lanier in Three-Game Semifinal
Indonesia’s Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah produced another significant result at the French Open, defeating seventh seed Alex Lanier of France 21-16, 16-21, 21-17 to reach the men’s singles final.
Ubaidillah took the opening game 21-16, but Lanier responded by winning the second 21-16 to force a decider.
With the match level at one game apiece, the Indonesian recovered to claim the third game 21-17 and eliminate the home favorite.
The defeat ended Lanier’s attempt to reach consecutive World Tour finals after his Denmark Open triumph the previous weekend.
Lanier had defeated compatriot Toma Junior Popov 16-21, 21-16, 21-16 in Friday’s quarterfinals, but Ubaidillah proved too strong in the deciding game of their semifinal.
For Ubaidillah, the victory continued an impressive French Open campaign that included wins over fellow Indonesian Jonatan Christie, Japan’s Koki Watanabe and Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen.
His run now takes him into Sunday’s championship match against another French player, Christo Popov.

Christo Popov Keeps French Men’s Singles Title Hopes Alive
France’s Christo Popov secured his place in the men’s singles final after defeating China’s Hu Zhe An 21-14, 21-10.
The third seed took the opening game 21-14 before extending his advantage in the second, winning 21-10 to complete the straight-game victory.
Popov’s result means France will have a representative in Sunday’s men’s singles final despite Lanier’s semifinal defeat.
The French player had advanced to the last four after defeating Japan’s Kodai Naraoka 21-15, 21-16 in the quarterfinals.
He will now meet Indonesia’s Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah, who has already eliminated one French player during his run to the championship match.
The final will determine whether Popov can secure the men’s singles title for the host nation or whether Ubaidillah can complete his impressive campaign with a championship victory.
