Kuala Lumpur: Han Jian, the 1985 World Champion and the Chief coach who guided Malaysia to the 1992 Thomas Cup triumph, echoed BadmintonPlanet.com’s suggestion that world number one Lee Chong Wei should hire a new coach in order to revive his career.Han Jian nickname is "sticky candy", owing to his much-used tactic of using long rallies to pressurize an opponent into making mistakes.

Han Jian believed a new coach could help shake things up for Chong Wei – who failed to win the World Championships in August in absence of Lin Dan and lost to Lin at the semi-final of Asian Games in September.

“Chong Wei had been repeatedly struggled in huge tournaments under existing coaches, his games have remained stagnant lately. He should start looking for someone who used to be a successful badminton player and highly respected by many around the badminton community as his new coach,” said Han Jian.

“The new coach should have a strong support team to help innovate and improve Chong Wei’s game,” added Han Jian.

“It’s also hard to change with all the successes Chong Wei’ had with his racket. But the truth is, in the modern badminton, his opponents have improved. I encourage him to try something new to achieve a major breakthrough,” advice Han Jian.
