Jeonju City: World number one men’s doubles pair Lee Yong-Dae/Yoo Yeon-Seong from South Korea maintained their scintillating form at the Korea Grand Prix final as they exacted sweet revenge on team-mates Ko Sung-Hyun and Shin Baek-Cheol with a 21-18 21-19 victory in 50 minutes on Sunday. Ko Sung-Hyun and Shin Baek-Cheol won their last encounters in the World Championships, where they rallied from one set deficit to upset fellow countrymen Lee Yong-dae and Yoo Yeon-seong in the pulsating 79-minute World Championships final.
Lee Yong-Dae/Yoo Yeon-Seong had advanced to the final of their last seven tournaments, and winning four of them including the Korea Grand Prix.
Lee Dong-keun of South Korea emerged from behind the shadow of his compatriot and former world number one Lee Hyun-il to claim his own place in the men’s singles category by winning his first international title with 21-18, 24-22 in 65 minutes.
In the all Korean women’s doubles final, two time world junior champions Lee So-hee-Shin Seung-chan won the title easily after one of their opponent Chang Ye-na retired at 15-8 due to injury.
Due to Chang Ye-na’s injury, she and her mixed doubles partner Shin Baek-Cheol were forced to grant Shin Seung-chan and Choi Sol-kyu a walkover in the mixed doubles final.
The 2012 World Junior Champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan won the women’s singles title after comfortably defeating compatriot Sayaka Sato 21-17, 21-13 in 50 minutes.
