Mumbai: India’s world No. 2 women’s singles badminton player Saina Nehwal who has been the brand ambassador for Soothe Healthcare’s Paree sanitary pads since 2014, has now become an investor in that company’s personal care business.
“Saina Nehwal is a role model for many young girls and women in India. We are excited to have her as our brand ambassador and a strategic investor now,” said the CEO of Soothe Healthcare, Sahil Dharia.
Soothe Healthcare did not disclose how much Saina Nehwal has invested, but the company had recently secured an undisclosed amount in funding from the company’s advisor and former president of Reliance Infrastructure, Anil Gupta.
“I am happy to be able to strengthen my relationship with the company. Being a girl and having playing badminton for many years, I’ve come through many difficult situations. I totally believe in Soothe’s Paree sanitary pad brand and would like to support them as it is an important product for girls whether they go to school or play sports,” said Nehwal.
“More importantly, this is more than just an investment, this is about supporting the cause,” added Nehwal.
According to Soothe Healthcare, the sanitary pads market in India is expected to grow 5 times to Rs. 21,000 crores in India by 2025. They will spent the investment to promote the brand awareness among girls between the ages of 10-24 in India.
