KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s challenge in the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) is all over with the exit of their last two pairs in the quarter-finals at Suwon, South Korea, yesterday.
Hopes were high on the men’s doubles pair of Hoon Thien How-Lin Woon Fui but they went down 21-23, 19-21 to China’s juniors Chai Biao-Liu Xiaolong in a tight 50-minute match.
It was only Thien How-Woon Fui’s second international tournament together.
They also reached the quarter-finals in their debut at the Indian Open two weeks ago.
In the mixed doubles, Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying went down tamely 13-21, 6-21 to South Korea’s Yoon Yeon-seong-Kim Min-jung in just 26 minutes.
